When the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton stopped by the Downton Abbey set in March, she seemed to leave a lasting impression on a particular member of the popular ITV show. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Michelle Dockery was asked what the Duchess smelled like, to which she replied: "Like roses."

Kate, who was pregnant with Princess Charlotte at the time, visited the Ealing Studios dressed in a chic cream maternity coat. The royal, who has recently received personalised dolls for her and her daughter, was given the chance to see a scene being filmed in the servants' quarters for the sixth series of the period drama.

During the WWHL chat show, host Andy Cohen quizzed Michelle and co-star Allen Leech about their feelings when it came time to say goodbye to their onscreen spouses, Dan Stevens and Jessica Findlay, so early in the series.

"A bit at Dan [Stevens] yeah, for a while," Michelle shared. " But then, quickly I realised it did such great things for the story. I mean I was just heartbroken that he was going. I don’t really know what else could have happened. They would have just had more kids and maybe Mary would have had an affair or something."

However, Allen felt less upset with the storyline for selfish reasons. "With Jes [Findlay], we were sad she was going, but as an actor and selfish person, I was like, ‘Yes, crying scenes’. Bye Jes," he joked.

The show, which will leave our screens this Christmas after six successful seasons, released a trailer for the last ever episode. However, fans can also look forward to the Christmas Special Text Santra episode with stars such as Michelle Keegan, Gordon Ramsay, Sir Bruce Forsyth and Gok Wan all making an appearance.
