Princess Victoria of Sweden takes style inspiration from Kate

December 16, 2015

The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, is an international style icon and it appears the Kate-effect even affects royalty. Princess Victoria of Sweden drew fashion inspiration from Kate's enviable wardrobe, opting for a Seraphine maternity dress which the Duchess wore when she was pregnant with Princess Charlotte.

Victoria, who is set to welcome her second child with Prince Daniel in the New Year, elegantly showed off her baby bump when she met the Nobel Peace Prize winners in Stockholm on Tuesday. Her choice in dress by maternity label Seraphine, a favourite of Kate's, was the same design that the British royal wore in December 2014 when she met with Ben Ainslie at a private event in London.

Crown Princess Victoria looked a vision at Tuesday's event

The Swedish royal's dress featured a pleated skirt, which she matched with navy earrings, a clutch bag and suede shoes and she styled her hair in a ponytail, but this wasn't the first Nobel Prize occasion the royal attended.

The Swedish royal family pulled out all the stops for the Nobel Prize Banquet on December 10. Victoria highlighted her growing baby bump in a floor-length purple gown accessorised with a silver sash and the stunning Connaught Diamond tiara. The 38-year-old could be seen cradling her bump as she stood during the ceremony with Princess Sofia, who is also expecting a baby in the New Year.

The sisters-in-law have grown close and it appears Victoria is a style icon herself as Sofia has made a habit of borrowing her clothes. Sofia and Prince Carl Philip went on a two-day trip to the town of Älvdalen in Dalarna province in October where the princess donned a bright red smart coat that Victoria has worn on previous occasions.

Sofia also sported Victoria's short fur jacket when she attended the wedding of Gustaf Magnuson in Stockholm in August 2013.
