The parents-to-be, who are set to welcome their first child in April, added to the elegance of the evening as they posed hand-in-hand outside the event, which is held to honour the success of the country's athletes.Sofia, 31, was impeccably dressed in a long-sleeved midnight blue gown that fell to the floor, her baby bump accentuated by a waist cinching belt. Her 36-year-old husband, meanwhile, looked handsome in a black tuxedo and bow tie.

The gala was attended by some of Sweden's top sports stars, including swimmer Emma Igelstrom and boxer Mikaela Lauren, who were both recognised at the event. But it was the royal couple who stole the show.News of the couple's pregnancy was revealed in October, four months after their beautiful summer wedding. In a statement shared on Facebook, Sofia and Carl Philip said: "We are so happy and excited to announce that we are expecting our first child. We are very much looking forward to it."

The prince has revealed that they have sought advice from his sisters, Crown Princess Victoria, who is expecting her second baby in March, and mother-of-two Princess Madeleine. "We've talked, but I'm not going to tell you what they told me!" he joked with reporters last year.The couple have decided not to find out the sex of their baby, but they were recently spotted preparing for their little prince or princess, who will be fifth in line to the Swedish throne. Sofia and Carl Philip were seen shopping together in Skane County earlier this month, looking at a variety of strollers, and even stopping to pose for a photo with a fan.
