Princess Charlene of Monaco was in high spirits as she joined Prince Albert for the annual St Dévote's Day celebrations on Tuesday. The royal, who celebrated her 38th birthday on Monday, looked happy as she greeted locals following a traditional remembrance service for Monaco's patron saint.
The couple chatted as they walked through the crowd that had gathered outside the church, and stopped to shake hands with locals on the way. They also helped to set light to a fishing boat, in keeping with a tradition that started with the reign of Prince Louis II in 1942.

Charlene looked characteristically chic for the outing, and was wrapped up in a grey poncho and skirt, set off with knee high boots and a slick of red lipstick. She could be seen cosying up to Prince Albert as they stood in the crowd to watch the fishing boat burn, linking her arms around his.
The national holiday fell just a day after Princess Charlene's 38th birthday, which she is believed to have marked privately with Prince Albert and their twins Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

The royal couple's evening out was the first high profile event they had attended since their private meeting with the Pope earlier this month. During the private audience at the Apostolic Palace, the 37-year-old greeted the leader by bowing down and holding his hand to her forehead.
Charlene and her husband Albert then exchanged gifts with Pope Francis I and the trio spoke while aides watched on.
