Crown Princess Victoria makes first official appearance since birth of her son

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden stepped back in front of the cameras on Wednesday as she made her first official public appearance since giving birth. The elegant royal welcomed her son Prince Oscar just four weeks ago, on 2 March, and she gave a big smile as she arrived for the annual Dag Hammarskjöld Lecture in Stockholm.The brand new mum-of-two was impeccably dressed in a black shift dress with a metallic coat over the top. She wore her hair swept back in a bun and accessorised with black drop earrings, a simple gold necklace and bracelet.

Crown Princess Victoria has made her first public appearance since giving birth

She made her appearance in the Swedish capital to hear United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon speak at The Dag Hammarskjöld Lecture.The event is held every year in memory of Dag Hammarskjöld, the second Secretary-General of the United Nations, and in recognition of the values that inspired him as Secretary-General. The invited speaker is an international personality who in significant and innovative ways contributes to a more just, peaceful and environmentally sustainable world through politics or research.

Following the lecture, Victoria headed home – no doubt excited to see her children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.Last week, Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel released two new official photos of little Oscar as a thank you to their well-wishers.The first photo, taken at the family home Haga Castle, shows proud big sister Princess Estelle doting over her baby brother, smiling sweetly down at Prince Oscar as he sleeps in her arms. The second image is of Princess Victoria cuddling her tiny newborn son.

Crown Princess Victoria welcomed her second child on Wednesday 2 March, with her husband Prince Daniel by her side. He later proudly addressed the media to confirm the little prince was born weighing eight pounds and measuring 22 inches long. With a big smile, he said that both mother and baby were doing well, adding: "I have not had time to feel just yet how it feels to be a father of two. But it feels good so far!"The couple released the first official photo of their son earlier this month, showing him fast asleep while covered with a cream blanket just five days after his birth at Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm.
