Prince Harry surprises shoppers as he visits his local supermarket

April 3, 2016

Prince Harry turned heads yesterday when he appeared in the place you'd least expect to see a royal: the supermarket. The fifth-in-line to the throne surprised shoppers after he popped into a Waitrose near to his flat in Kensington Palace to buy eggs.

Although the 31-year-old kept his head down and wore a baseball cap, west London shoppers instantly recognised the Prince. Fellow shopper Lewis St George-McKenzie told The Sun how surprised he was to see Prince Harry in the store. He said "You don’t expect to see a Prince doing his shop at nine in the morning."

You don’t expect to see a Prince doing his shop at nine in the morning," a fellow shopper joked

"He had a couple of bags of shopping... I have seen a few celebs about but never royalty."

Another fan shared a picture of the Prince at the till on Twitter, writing: "God love Prince Harry at the self-service till in Waitrose."

Harry has recently returned from an official visit to Nepal, where he kept fans updated with personal photos taken from his trip, including a beautiful photo of the view captioned: "Living in such dramatic scenery clearly has an effect on the Nepalese – such calm, friendly people." He also shared a snap of a dog, writing "Found a friend surveying his kingdom! Who can blame him – what a view!"

The Prince enjoyed his time in Nepal so much that he extended his stay

During his time in Nepal, Harry aided earthquake relief projects, visited children in recovery camps and made a rare speech about women's rights at the Nepal Girl Summit. He said: "We need to acknowledge that so many countries and cultures are failing to protect the opportunities of young women and girls in the way they do for boys.

"I believe it is vitally important for men like me to acknowledge this as loudly and openly as role models do like President Bhandari, the US First Lady Michelle Obama and activists like Malala."
