"She's a very good footballer. You hold her hand and she kicks it," William said. "Very sweet".

The Duke of Cambridge has been the president of the FA for the last ten years, and on Wednesday said that the time had "gone by in a flash" as he reflected on his decade in the role. The 11-month-old has a personalised football shirt from the England Women's team

Prince William is outspoken about his love of football, and it appears his young daughter may well share his passion as she grows up. The youngest member of the royal family received a personalised football shirt from the England Women's football team shortly after her birth in May 2015, when William met them during a training session in Staffordshire.

See which other milestone Princess Charlotte reached recently

Kicking a ball is not the only milestone Princess Charlotte has reached in recent weeks; in March it emerged that the youngster had cut her first teeth when photos from the family's ski holiday were released.

The news comes as William and Kate prepare for Princess Charlotte's first birthday on 2 May, which they are expected to mark with a private celebration at their home, Anmer Hall.
