Zara Tindall gave the Grand National her royal seal of approval today as she arrived to watch the races. The 34-year-old looked stunning in a long burgundy coat and a cream fascinator as she joined the other spectators.

The Queen's granddaughter visited the Grand National at Aintree in Liverpool with other celebrity guests including Coleen Rooney and Roxanne Pallett to cheer on her favourite to win. Wearing large sunglasses and carrying a grey bag, Zara looked to be in good spirits as she chatted to friends before the race began.

The royal famously loves horse riding, and won a silver medal in the 2012 London Olympics. She has suggested that she would like to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, telling Financial Times it would change her plans to have a second child.

"It means I won't be able to have any more children between now and then," she said.

Zara is already mum to two-year-old Mia, and has opened up about how having a child paused her athletic career. She said: "What surprised me about having a baby is losing all your fitness and how tough it is to get it back.

"I try to work out on an exercise bike first thing in the morning."

Although Zara appeared to have visited the Grand National without little Mia this year, she is often seen visiting horse riding events with her young daughter. She revealed that she has found a balance between motherhood and riding as she is able to bring Mia along to training and competitions, saying: "I don't have to go the entire day missing her."
