The secret to her long life:

The Queen's cousin Princess Alexandra credited diet and exercise to Her Majesty's long and healthy life.

Princess Alexandra said: "She walks every day and she still rides. I'm sure exercise and a moderate diet contributes to the length of life."

She never wanted to become the longest reigning monarch:

Princess Anne explained: "Don't forget there's a double edged sword there, as people tend to forget, when she passed the longest reigning monarch that was only because her father died so young. It's a record she would much rather not have been able to pass."

Prince Philip doesn't enjoy taking official portraits:

While watching footage from the Queen's coronation, Princes William and Harry laughed as they watched their grandfather Prince Philip trying to move the group into position for an official portrait.

Prince William: "You can see why he got tired of taking family photos after this."

The Queen liked to film videos from her royal tours to share with her children:

Her Majesty often spent time away from her children while she carried out official tours around the world. However her children weren't far from her mind, and the Queen would film footage to share the memories with Charles and Anne when she returned home.

"Mama whenever she could she took some films, or my father did." Prince Charles said.

Her Majesty will speak her mind and let her family know when they have made a mistake:

Prince Harry spoke of the pressure he feels when representing his grandmother on official tours…

"When you go on official tours to the Bahamas, Belize and all those places… my first proper tour representing her, I was bricking myself. I was incredibly nervous, I was wondering, will people be disappointed it's me and not her, will I get it all right, will I make any mistakes?

"There is a huge amount of pressure and huge weight on our shoulders, but she's led the way. I think she's more than happy to let you crack on. If you get it wrong then she'll tell you, and likewise if we get it wrong we'll go up and apologise."

The Queen developed her sense of fun from her mother:

Old footage of the Queen's parents King George VI and Queen Elizabeth when they were young revealed their playful nature – a trait Prince Charles says has been passed down to the rest of the family.

Prince Charles: "Seeing this footage for the first time helps us to understand where my grandmother got her sense of fun from, and how she passed that on to her own family."

The monarch enjoyed low-key family outings with her children:

The Queen tried to ensure her children enjoyed as normal a childhood as possible, and that included plenty of time playing outside as a family.

"We certainly spent more time outside than the modern generations do," Princess Anne observed, as she watched footage from her childhood.

The royal family would often take trips to the beach together, where they would play undisturbed, despite being in a public place.

She likes to keep a close eye on her family:

The Queen may have a number of royal duties to carry out, but it doesn't stop her from keep a close eye on what her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are all up to.

Prince William explains: "She loves the idea of having her big family around her and keeping an eye on them and making sure they're okay. It's a very sort of subtle affection that she has, so she keeps an eye without you sort of knowing it. She knows exactly what we're up to and what's going on."

Prince George and Princess Charlotte now play with one of Prince William's favourite childhood toys:

Prince William revealed that his children Prince George and Princess Charlotte now like to play with a huge blue giraffe toy owned by the Queen that he remembers from his own childhood.

"There's a huge blue giraffe that's been there for years and years and years, she sort of bounces around and her legs wobble all over the place and she's got a big dandelion in her nose. I remember that every year since I was small it's been there, and now George and Charlotte play with it.

"I'd say that becomes more of a centrepiece for the family because it's just like an old friend that's there every year."

William and Harry say Prince George walks like Prince Charles as a young boy:

Prince George acts just like his grandfather Prince Charles did as a young boy, according to Prince William. The Duke made the observation as he and Prince Harry watched old footage of their father playing as a young child.

"He walks like George…" Harry noted, prompting his brother to agree: "He does walk like George."

Harry continued: "Or George walks like him. It's the purpose to the walk."
