Will this be Kate and Prince George's next official outing?

April 25, 2016

They made a sweet picture last week, playing at home at Kensington Palace with Prince George sitting atop a rocking horse in his bathrobe and pyjamas. His mum the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, crouched down to talk to her son and introduced him to the US President Barack Obama.

After George's surprise appearance at the private dinner, royal fans are naturally wondering if the two-year-old will join his mum Kate at an upcoming engagement.

Next week on Wednesday 4 May, the Duchess is scheduled to visit Hampton Court's Magic Garden to officially open its new children's play area.

As the engagement is particularly suited to youngsters, it wouldn't come as a complete surprise if Kate, 34, decided to bring her son.

The little Prince took part in a similar engagement – his very first – when he was just eight months old. He joined children his age at a special playdate session at Government House in Wellington, during Prince William and Kate's royal tour of New Zealand in 2014.

It was then that George joined other babies and toddlers in a play area littered with toys. The future King was impeccably behaved, albeit for a minor incident when he a grabbed a wooden doll from a girl called Paige, making her cry.

George has only made a few official appearances so far. He made his debut at Trooping the Colour last June and the following month attended the christening of his baby sister Princess Charlotte. He also visited Charlotte at hospital on the day she was born.

Royal fans are no doubt hoping, therefore, that the adorable Prince will join his mum on her outing next week.

On 4 May, Kate will also undertake her first engagement as patron of the Anna Freud Centre. The Duchess, who champions mental health in young people, will attend a lunch reception and show her support for the development of the charity's new centre of excellence.
