How Kate will celebrate Princess Charlotte's first birthday

April 29, 2016

Monday marks a very special occasion for the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, as she will celebrate her daughter Princess Charlotte's first birthday. Kate will most likely spend the day privately with her husband Prince William, the couple's son Prince George and their closest family and friends.

The Duke and Duchess are expected to hold the festivities at their country home Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where they have raised Charlotte and two-year-old George.

A relaxed and intimate birthday party will be on the cards, following the busy schedule the Cambridges have been keeping. The couple have just returned from a royal tour of India and Bhutan, and almost went straight into celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday last week.

When Prince George turned one in 2014, Kate's mum Carole Middleton is said to have hosted a Peter Rabbit-themed party at the Middleton family home in Berkshire. Kate may have chosen to follow in her mum's footsteps and make her daughter's birthday extra special by picking a theme.

Likely guests are Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton, her sister Pippa and her brother James.

Princess Charlotte's godparents will also want to attend if they haven't already made Bank Holiday plans, including Prince William's close friends Tom van Straubenzee and James Meade and Kate's lifelong friend Sophie Carter.

Charlotte will no doubt be showered with plenty of gifts from her family and friends. Her mum Kate, a talented photographer, will want to whip out her camera to make sure she captures every special moment of her daughter's milestone.

As with George's first birthday, a visit to the Queen is also highly likely so that Her Majesty can wish her great-granddaughter a happy birthday in person.

Depending on where the monarch is, Kate and William may take their brood to a separate celebration in Windsor, where the Queen marked her 90th, or to Buckingham Palace in London, where George spent the morning of his first birthday.
