May 1, 2016

Barack Obama had the audience in stitches as he joked about Prince George greeting him at Kensington Palace while wearing a dressing gown. During his speech at the White House Correspondents' dinner on Saturday, the US President feigned offence at the little prince's attire, joking that it was a "breach of protocol."

Addressing the crowd at the dinner, which included famous faces such as Emma Watson, Kerry Washington and Tom Hiddleston, the President spoke about the upcoming end of his final ever term as President, and joked that Prince George's adorable bedtime attire was an intentional slight.

"It's not just Congress. Even some foreign leaders, they've been looking ahead, anticipating my departure. Last week, Prince George showed up to our meeting in his bathrobe. That was a slap in the face. A clear breach of protocol," the President deadpanned.

The adorable bathrobe, in which George's name was embroidered, has become a smash hit with parents everywhere, selling out from online site My 1st Years minutes after the photos of Obama meeting the Prince were first released.

Founder Daniel Price spoke about the royal baby effort, saying: "We are thrilled that Prince George chose to wear our robe when meeting President Obama at Kensington Palace.

"Our website sales for the garment were up by 750 per cent on the Saturday after the photos were released, and it sold out pretty much immediately. At peak, we were selling a robe every second, and 50 per cent of the orders were made in the USA."

The President also spoke fondly about his time in England in April and the 54-year-old has enjoyed bantering with Prince Harry regarding the Invictus Games. Appearing in a short video, Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama tell the Prince to "be careful what you wish for", while the soldiers stood behind them begin making faces.

Prince Harry hilariously responded to the video by posting his own in which he shows Queen Elizabeth their video who laughs and says "oh really? Please!" while Harry smiles cheekily at the camera.
