A few days after Princess Leonor of Spain attended a football match with her dad King Felipe, it was only fair that her little sister Princess Sofia was treated to a similar experience. Sofia and Felipe were spotted arriving at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid on Wednesday night, where they watched their home team Real Madrid score a victory over Manchester City.
The father-daughter duo had the best seats in the house. And just as he was with his eldest daughter Leonor, Felipe sat next to his youngest and looked after her throughout the game.
The inquisitive little girl was full of questions and leant into her dad as he explained the goings-on of the match.
Princess Sofia, nine, and King Felipe watched Real Madrid beat Manchester City
At one point Sofia beamed as her dad pointed out some players on the pitch. The princess, who looked immaculate in a spring trench coat, was clearly thrilled to be spending a night out with her dad.
But the highlight of the evening will have been meeting the Spanish team backstage. Nine-year-old Sofia and her dad Felipe took pride of place, standing in the middle of the group for a photo.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the team's superstar, posted the picture on Instagram with the caption "Final", alluding to Real Madrid's position in the Champions League.
The royals met the team in the stadium
Felipe and Sofia's outing comes just a week after the king took his eldest daughter Leonor, who is first-in-line to the throne, to a match at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid. The pair watched Atletico Madrid take on Bayern Munich.
The Spanish king is an avid sporting and football fan, but this was the first known time that he had taken his daughter Leonor to a match. The family most likely watch games regularly from the comfort of their home, with Felipe's wife and the girls' mother Queen Letizia.
