Mia Tindall horses around with dad Mike at Badminton Trials

May 6, 2016

Mike Tindall had his hands full while looking after his little girl Mia on Friday. The retired rugby star was on parenting duty at the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire, where his wife Zara was competing on day two of the tournament.

The father-daughter duo made an adorable pair, with Mia sitting on top of Mike's shoulders. Clad in dungarees and a navy top, the fair-haired girl playfully distracted her dad, waving her toy around and bouncing up and down.

At one point Mia jokily stuck out her tongue as Mike gave her a bemused look.

The pair met up with Zara after she took part in the dressage event. The Olympic silver medallist was riding on High Kingdom, one of her favourite horses who she competed on in the London 2012 Games.

Speaking about her horse, who suffered a freak stable accident last season, Zara said: "He was a little bit jolly in there, but it is better to be that way. He hasn't been in a proper arena for a year, so I am pleased with him. Some of his work was really good.

"There are bits we have got to work on, and he was a little bit fresher than he normally probably is, but you just have got to deal with what you get and make sure everything is accurate."

Zara and High Kingdom will return to the trials to compete in Saturday's cross-country course. "He is a good jumper, and he loves his cross-country," said Zara.

The athlete, 34, and her husband Mike, 37, welcomed their daughter in January 2014. The Queen's granddaughter has previously said that she would like to have another baby, but after this year's Rio Olympics.

Mike has previously spoken about being a modern dad. "You've got to be a hands-on dad nowadays," he told The Times. "Plus Zara spends a lot of time with the horses, so I don't have much choice in that sense."
