As the UK prepares to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday with an incredible celebration filled with celebrity entertainers, Buckingham Palace has released three never-before-seen snaps of her majesty to mark the occasion.
Although the photos have not been dated, they clearly show the Queen as a princess before her accession to the throne in 1952. In the first black and white photo, the then Princess Elizabeth seems to be visiting some sort of bird enclosure, and can be seen looking at the bird sat on her arm while wearing a simple dress and cardigan. Her short brunette hair flicks out and falls over her face in the natural snap.
The Queen released never-before-seen photos of herself as a child
In the second photo, her majesty is smiling while preparing to dive into a swimming pool with her father, King George VI. The third photo is the only colour photo of the three, and shows the Queen smiling at the camera while sat with her father and her sister, Princess Margaret. The two girls are dressed in matching bright pink outfits while the King and Princess Margaret each hold a corgi.
The photos were released ahead of the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations
The release is part of the day-long celebrations that will not only celebrate the Queen's landmark birthday, but will also commemorate her reign spanning over 60 years.
