Mike Tindall on his schooling plans for daughter Mia

June 5, 2016

Mike Tindall has revealed that he doesn't want to send his daughter Mia to a boarding school far away, as it would 'distance' her from her family.

The former England rugby captain told The Daily Mail: "I'm certainly not keen on sending Mia away to a boarding school at the other end of the country.

Mike revealed he'd rather Mia attends a school close by

"I know many people who say boarding was the making of them because they forged great independence from their parents, but I don’t really want her to be distanced from us."

He continued to talk about his public school education, and how he enjoyed being just a day student. He said: "My school was a public one and plenty of my mates lived in, but I was just a day student and it definitely didn't do me any harm. If anything, I enjoyed the best of both worlds.

"Personally, I'd rather she attend a school that's nearby, where we'll always be on hand if she needs us. Anything else goes against my instincts."

Mike revealed he has no plans to send Mia to boarding school

The doting dad previously opened about his two-year-old daughter after she stole the show in the Queen's 90th birthday portrait by holding up her great-grandmother's handbag. He told Good Morning Britain: "It just happened at the right time. She was being a bit naughty. The queen got it quite right when she told her: 'Just hold the handbag now' and she did that. It ended up being a great photo for her.

"It just turned out to be the right photo at the right time and it will be something we'll always cherish, I think."
