Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar of Sweden send national day greetings – via the cutest photos

June 6, 2016

Princess Estelle of Sweden and her baby brother Prince Oscar have sent their national day greetings – via the sweetest photos. The siblings have starred in a new set of portraits that were released on Monday to coincide with the national celebration.

One photo showed Estelle playing the doting big sister and wrapping her arms around her baby brother. The young Princess flashed a huge smile at the camera as she cradled Oscar, who was born on 2 March, and gently rested her head on his.

The photoshoot took place in the grounds of the family's home Haga Palace.

In keeping with tradition, Estelle, four, was dressed in her blue and yellow national day dress – attire that the female royals all don for the celebration.

Another picture showed the princess running around the palace gardens, playing with sheep and gently patting one on its back.

The youngster's mum Crown Princess Victoria also featured in another gorgeous shot that was taken some time before the national day. Dressed in normal clothes, Victoria, 38, matched her daughter Estelle in a summery sun hat.

Sweden's future queen bounced baby Oscar on her lap while she and Estelle giggled at each other.

Each year the nation celebrates national day on 6 June. Members of the royal family lead the festivities, which begin in the morning with the opening of the palace gates. The public are then invited to tour the royal residence.

This year the honour fell to Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, who have just welcomed their first child in April. The couple greeted royal watchers outside the palace and waved to crowds, with Sofia, 31, proudly showing off her son Alexander.

This was the newborn prince's first official debut and went down a treat with fans, who were no doubt thrilled to catch a glimpse of the royal bundle of joy.
