What Kate has to say about 'cute' Princess Charlotte will surprise you

June 10, 2016

She may have a cherubic face, but the Duchess of Cambridge has revealed that her little girl Princess Charlotte has a rather "feisty side". Kate was speaking to guests at a reception following the National Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen's 90th birthday on Friday, when she opened up about her one-year-old.

She chatted to fellow mum Glynis Double, one of the 1,800 attendees at the reception, who revealed: "The Duchess was saying how happy she was to be here and how lovely the service was. As a mum myself I asked her about her children and said what a pretty little thing we all thought Princess Charlotte was.

"She said 'oh she is very cute but she has got quite a feisty side.'"

The pair then spoke about Princess Charlotte's older brother Prince George, who turns three next month.

Glynis said: "I then asked her about George and she said he was a really lovely little boy. She said she hopes that George will keep Charlotte in order!"

Glynis was attending the reception at London's Guildhall with her husband Paul, who helped organise the event in his capacity as the City's Remembrancer. The opportunity to speak to the Duchess was unexpected for Glynis.

Kate said that her daughter has a "feisty side"

She admitted: "It was such a surprise to be introduced to her and she was just lovely – and very, very beautiful.

"She kept on asking if we had enough to eat – and I told her we hadn't stopped since we arrived! As my husband has been involved in organising the event I really couldn't be prouder. What a fabulous day."

All guests at the reception had attended the special thanksgiving service at St Paul's Cathedral that morning. The ceremony was held to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday and her remarkable life.

While the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall hosted an intimate lunch for Governors-General at Buckingham Palace, other members of the royal family attended the larger reception at Guildhall.

Joining Kate were her husband Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew and Andrew's daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their young children Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn.
