A princess got married this weekend - and the dress was magical...

June 20, 2016

Congratulations are in order for Princess Alix de Ligne and her new husband Guillaume de Dampierre. The couple married in a religious wedding ceremony on Saturday 18 June in the village of Beloeil in Belgium.

The bride looked stunning as she emerged from St Peter's Church, wearing a vintage-inspired ivory dress. The A-line gown featured an embroidered panel with fringe detailing, and Alix completed her look with a lace veil.

The pièce de résistance was her diamond tiara, which sparkled as Alix kissed her nobleman husband on the church steps.

The reception was held at the bride's ancestral home, the Château de Belœil, which has belonged to the de Ligne family since the fourteenth century. The chateau, which is open to the public, has been hailed the "Versailles" of Belgium.

Guests included members of European royal families, including Henri, the Grand Duke of Luxembourg and his wife Maria Teresa, the Grand Duchess.

Before celebrating their royal wedding with their guests, Alix and Guillaume posed outside the chateau with their flower girl and pageboys. The newlyweds then gathered their family for a large group photo inside the lavish castle.

Alix and Guillaume, who live in Rio, Brazil, said "I do" in a civil ceremony the day before their religious service on Friday.
