Princess Mary of Denmark has followed in Kate's footsteps by appearing in the August edition of Vogue Australia, and was shot by the same photographer who shot Kate's Vogue cover, Mario Testino.

The Danish royal family's Facebook page shared a photo from the shoot which shows the Crown Princess laughing with her husband, Prince Frederik, and their four children, Prince Christian, 10, Princess Isabella, nine, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, five while the children's toys, including a skateboard and a scooter, can be seen in the shot.

In her interview with the magazine, her Royal Highness spoke about being a role model, and the challenges that go with it. She said: "I find it difficult to speak of myself as a role model, as role models are defined by the individual. It is what they see in a person that gives meaning or inspiration to them that makes another person a role model for them. It’s not something I consciously think about.

"But at the same time, I am very aware of my role and my responsibility. If I can inspire others and if others see something in me that can inspire them."

Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Edwina McCann spoke about the Princess, saying: "She has that ability to really be a world leader in this area. She is exposed to the most extraordinary people and conversation and has access to the most extraordinary people.

"While the fairy tale reads better if she is a real estate agent who ran into a prince at the pub, she has always been incredibly intelligent. If you speak to her friends and family and people who knew her before she met Prince Frederik, they all say she was going to be somebody.

"It has always been underestimated how intelligent she is and I think it is the key to her success. She is a very intelligent woman, her ability to learn Danish in six months is incredible."
