Following his wife's emotional speech at the Democratic National Convention, President Obama has proved once again why he and Michelle are the ultimate power couple. The First Lady appeared in Arizona on Monday to discuss the presidential election in America – and Barack couldn't resist sharing his thoughts on social media.

The 54-year-old tweeted: "Incredible speech by an incredible woman. Couldn't be more proud & our country has been blessed to have her as FLOTUS. I love you, Michelle."

Michelle Obama gave a powerful speech at the Democratic National Convention

During the talk, in which she became visibly emotional while discussing the prospect of Hillary Clinton becoming the first female president, Michelle, 52, opened up about what her daughters Malia and Sasha had learned during their father's presidency.

Michelle said: "It's hard to believe that it has been eight years since I first came to this convention to talk with you about why I thought my husband should be president. Remember how I told you about his character and conviction, his decency and his grace? The traits that we've seen every day since he's served our country in the White House.

Proud husband Obama took to Twitter to heap praise on Michelle

"I also told you about our daughters. We urge them to ignore those who question their father's citizenship or faith. How we insist that the hateful language they hear from public figures on TV does not represent the true spirit of our country. We explain when someone is cruel or acts like a bully, you do not stoop to their level. Our motto is when they go low you go high."

America will vote for its new president in November, and Barack is scheduled to leave office in January 2017.
