Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco to visit US – find out when

July 28, 2016

Prince Albert of Monaco and his wife Princess Charlene are set to visit the US later this year. The couple will visit Washington D.C. and New York City in September, the Prince, 58, has revealed.

The trip will celebrate "the tenth anniversary of diplomatic relations and the exchange of ambassadors between Monaco and the United States," Albert told People.

Following their visit to the capital, Albert and Charlene will travel to New York City to inaugurate a new Cartier store, which will feature a tribute to the monarch's late parents, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace.

While Stateside, Albert also plans on taking his wife to a US city close to his heart. "I'd like to show her Ocean City, New Jersey," he said. "I used to go there a lot when I was young."

Growing up, the royal's mum took him and his sister Princess Caroline to her family's vacation home on the Jersey Shore. "There's still a Kelly reunion at Ocean City every Labour Day," Albert said, adding that this year, "maybe we'll just surprise them!"

A month after their visit, the Monaco royal and his wife of five years will return to the Big Apple in October. The couple will once again visit New York to attend the annual Princess Grace Foundation dinner. No word on whether the pair's one-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, will join their parents on the overseas trips.

Albert recently opened up about the couple's twins, saying "they're doing great"

Albert recently opened up about his adorable twins. "They're doing great!" he told People. "They're roaming around, starting to repeat words. They almost know their ABCs and numbers. Gabriella is good with her numbers.

"They're doing them in French and English. We're speaking mostly English. Gabriella's really very good with her numbers. Jacques is a little bit lazier but he catches up fast and will pass her."

The twins are also taking after their mum Charlene, a retired Olympic swimmer. "They're in the [the pool] twice a day," said Albert. "I try to make the late afternoon swim with them. [Gabriella] likes putting her head underwater more than Jacques does."
