The challenge will take place in six weeks, and the Countess will be joined by a team of six others who represent four of HRH's regiments including 5th Battalion The Rifles, RAF Wittering, Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps and Corps of Army Music. The HMS Daring, which will be on sea during the ride, will also have a team of cyclists going the distant on static bikes while on board.

Sophie spoke about the support she received from her team, saying: "They know how to get me from one point to the next…they're providing a lot of chat to distract me and a lot of encouragement up the hills!

"They've been incredible, huge enthusiasts, and I could not be doing this now if it wasn't for them."
