While other European royals are halfway across the world attending the Rio Olympics, the Spanish royal family are enjoying their summer break in Majorca. King Felipe and Queen Letizia have opted to stay on home soil with their daughters Princesses Leonor and Sofia and take a few days off.

The family-of-four arrived on the Spanish island last week, after Felipe and Letizia waved off their national Olympics team at a Madrid airport on Friday.

Clearly in full holiday mode, Felipe and Letizia were in high spirits as they posed for a photocall at Marivent Palace with their children.

Despite the formality of the occasion, the royals looked happy and relaxed as they welcomed dozens of photographers to the palace.

Letizia, 43, nailed summer chic, wearing white cropped trousers and a Breton-striped top. Her younger daughter Sofia, nine, drew inspiration from her mum, also wearing a smart stripy dress. Leonor, the first-in-line to the throne, was picture-perfect in a smart white dress.

The royals arrived in Majorca last week

The royals recently enjoyed a big family reunion on one of their first nights in Majorca. They were joined by Felipe's parents King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia and Felipe's older sister Infanta Elena and her two teenage children Victoria and Felipe.

The royals dined out in style, choosing to eat at King Juan Carlos' favourite restaurant Flanigan.

Every year the family travel to Majorca for their summer downtime. They are often spotted taking in the local sights such as La Granja – a 17th century mansion situated in Esporles, the heart of Majorca – and the island's port, where the king takes part in the Copa del Rey yachting competition.
