Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia take baby son to place they first met

August 5, 2016

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden revisited the town of Bastad, where they met seven years ago, but this time, they returned with a special someone, their three-month-old son Prince Alexander.

The couple, who married in June 2015, arrived at the town on Wednesday where Princess Sofia attended official duties for her charity, Project Playground. This included a meeting which was themed 'A Sustainable Tomorrow,' and aimed to develop better conditions for vulnerable children.

A spokesperson for the Swedish royal family said of the trip: "This is something that Princess Sofia thinks is important, to be able to help."

During their trip, the couple also visited a restaurant named Sea Republic, and the restaurateur Hugo Söderberg opened up to People about how pleased he was to have them dine there. He said: "It's great to have them here. I hope they were as happy as all the other guests. And I'd love them to come back."

The pair first met in Bastad during a lunch with mutual friends, and have spoken about their "love at first sight." The Princess told Swedish channel TV 4: "The first thing I noticed about Carl Philip was that he seemed very humble. When I got to know him, I saw that he was incredibly natural, very intelligent and very humble."

Prince Carl Philip said: "I don't think I knew the magic of love before I met Sofia. But ever since I met her, I've seen how love can change a person."

Their first child, little Prince Alexander, was born on 19 April this year. The new parents released the first official portrait of their first child three weeks later, and introduced him to the world in Stockholm during Sweden's national day celebrations back in June.
