August 22, 2016

Kensington Palace has revealed more details about Prince William and Kate's upcoming tour to Canada. In a series of Twitter posts they announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit the country from September 24 to 1 October.

The couple will visit Vancouver, Victoria, Bella Bella, Haida Gwaii and Kelowna in British Columbia, followed by Whitehorse and Carcross in Yukon.

So far no mention has been made of whether Prince George, three, and one-year-old Princess Charlotte will accompany their parents on tour. A confirmation is expected nearer the time.

William and Kate will travel to Canada from 24 September to 1 October

It was previously speculated that William and Kate, both 34, would be in the territory of Yukon on 28 September according to an email exchange.

CBC reported that the Duke and Duchess will arrive in Yukon's capital Whitehorse on that day, where they will be joined by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie. David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will also be on hand to welcome the royals to the stunning region.

The email also revealed that events and activities will be within "driving distance" from Whitehorse.

At the time Yukon government spokesperson Sarah Crane said that the details in the email were "unconfirmed and developing".

This will be William and Kate's first visit to the mountainous territory of Yukon, and also Mr Trudeau's as prime minister. Last month the royals accepted the Canadian government's invitation to tour parts of the country.

No mention has been made of whether Prince George and Princess Charlotte will join

Kensington Palace tweeted: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Canada this autumn at the invitation of the Canadian Government. TRH hold very happy memories from their last visit to Canada in 2011 – their first overseas tour as a married couple."

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were also invited on the tour. This would be Charlotte's first tour abroad and royal watchers are no doubt eager to see more of the little girl. It would also mark the second tour for George, who famously accompanied his parents to Australia and New Zealand on their official visit in 2014 when he was just eight months old.
