New photos released to celebrate Queen Rania of Jordan's 46th birthday

Queen Rania of Jordan turns 46 on Wednesday, and to celebratethe palace has released a series of photos from important events the monarchhas been involved in over the past year.

It has been another remarkable year for the Queen, who hascarried out some 160 local engagements and field visits across orphanages,schools and elderly homes. She has been supported by her family on manyoccasions, including her daughter Princess Iman, who learned the royal ropesfrom her mother at a dinner they hosted with a group of young orphans in June.

Queen Rania is passionate about building cross-culturalbridges and her work as an advocate for peace between East and West has seenher receive a number of awards over the past 12 months.

As well as accepting the Walther Rathenau Prize fromChancellor Angela Merkel in recognition of her efforts, Rania was alsopresented with the World Childhood Award from Queen Sylvia of Sweden for herongoing commitment to supporting and providing education to the world's mostvulnerable children.

Rania's own children have also reached milestones of theirown; the Queen's eldest son Prince Hussein graduated from university in May, amoment she described as a "very special day". Meanwhile PrincessIman, Abdullah II and Rania's second eldest child will turn 20 in September,and as such has been joining her mother for more royal engagements alongsideher studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

While it is expected the Jordanian queen will mark herspecial day privately, she will be straight back to work in launching her ownbrand of local innovation in the upcoming Design Week Amman, which starts onThursday. The event acts as a platform for the exchange of local and globaldesigns, and will provide an opportunity for networking amongst design communitiesin the region.
