Following the news that Prince William and Kate will tour Canada in the autumn, it's been confirmed that the doting parents will be joined by their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte! The Cambridges will embark on their week-long tour on 24 September.

The trip marks their first official tour abroad as a family-of-four, and we previously revealed what royal fans can expect from what is set to be William and Kate's most exciting foreign engagement yet.

Prince William and Kate will be joined by George and Charlotte for their tour of Canada

A statement confirming the exciting news from their press office read: "I am very pleased to confirm that they will bring their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, with them to Canada. They have received so many wonderful messages from Canadians since the birth of their children and look forward to having the chance to introduce their young family to the country."

The full itinerary was also revealed, and apart from airport appearances, George and Charlotte are expected to attend a children's party on Thursday 29 September in Victoria, British Columbia. A group of military families have been especially invited to the engagement at Government House.

In July Kensington Palace confirmed Kate and William's Canadian adventure, tweeting: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Canada this autumn at the invitation of the Canadian Government. TRH hold very happy memories from their last visit to Canada in 2011 – their first overseas tour as a married couple.

The Cambridges on holiday in the Alps earlier this year

"The Duke and Duchess look forward to exploring more of Canada, from British Columbia to the territory of Yukon, when they return this autumn."

This is Princess Charlotte's first tour abroad and Prince George's second, after he joined his parents to visit Australia and New Zealand in 2014 when he was just eight months old.

Although they've made no official visits abroad since Charlotte's birth, in March the Cambridges enjoyed a mini ski break in the Alps. They followed this up with a short summer break, again in France, in July.
