Royal tour: When will we see Prince George and Princess Charlotte in Canada?

September 22, 2016

Prince William and Kate and their two children Prince George and Princess Charlotte are preparing for their tour to Canada – their first official trip as a family of four.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have more than 30 engagements planned for their week-long stay, but what exactly will their royal youngsters be doing?

Charlotte and her big brother George, who carried out his first tour when he was just eight months old, will definitely be attending one of those engagements – a children's party on Thursday 29 September.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte will attend a children's party in Victoria, British Columbia

The morning party is being held for military families at Government House in Victoria, British Columbia. The royals will be based at Government House throughout the tour, with the exception of one night when William and Kate travel to Yukon without their children.

The party will be an exciting time for royal watchers to catch a glimpse of the three-year-old Prince and one-year-old Princess, to see how much they've grown and see them bonding with other children during their playdate.

George attended a similar engagement during his tour to New Zealand in 2014. The future King took part in a special playgroup with children from military families and was impeccably behaved, confidently crawling on the floor – albeit for a minor incident with a little girl called Paige, who he made cry after grabbing her toy wooden doll.

The children's party in Canada will also be a good time for William and Kate, both 34, to share their experiences with other parents – and perhaps reveal some sweet anecdotes about their brood. The family will spend the rest of the day in private following the one-hour long engagement.

William and Kate's full itinerary

Apart from Thursday's official appearance, royal watchers won't be seeing much more of George and Charlotte. They'll be pictured arriving in Canada on Saturday 24 September and disembarking from the plane with their parents, and again leaving the country to return to the UK a week after.

Royal nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo will look after the children on tour

While William and Kate will make scores of appearances and meet hundreds of locals, George and Charlotte will spend most of their days in the comfort of Government House with their Spanish nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.

Who's who in William and Kate's entourage?

The beautiful Government House gardens have been spectacularly spruced up for the young visitors and rubber ducks have been placed in fountains around the grounds, especially for them.

George and Charlotte will see their parents each morning and evening in between engagements, apart from when William and Kate spend one night in the neighbouring territory of Yukon.
