Prince George is obsessed with transport! See what Prince William had to say

September 26, 2016

Like any boy his age, Prince George is "obsessed" with anything that has wheels.

Prince William has opened up about his son's fascination with cars, trucks and planes, saying that George would be particularly impressed by a state-of-the-art truck that William viewed.

The future King was visiting the Kitsilano Coast Guard Station with his wife Kate on day two of the Canadian royal tour, when he pointed out the fire service's new truck.

"My son George would be obsessed with that," William told Sophie Trudeau, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife, as they toured the high-tech equipment on show.

William, who is an air ambulance pilot and used to work as a search and rescue pilot, was also interested to hear about the different technology available to Canadian fire, police and coastguard services.

The Duke was also introduced to Griffin, a German shepherd working with the Vancouver police department. As he bent down to pet his new canine friend, the handler said: "He's a good dog."

"I bet he is," said William, who has a cocker spaniel Lupo back home.

Before leaving, William and Kate were given presents for their children who had stayed behind at Government House in Victoria, where they will be based throughout the week-long tour.

Kim Carter, executive assistant to the chief constable at Vancouver Police Department, gave William two party bags containing gifts for his children.

Princess Charlotte received a small police dog named Spike, while Prince George was given a toy police car. "They'll be playing with these all afternoon," said William. The family arrived in Canada on Saturday afternoon, making a sweet arrival as they landed at Victoria military airport. William and Kate said their children were "super excited" about their trip on an airplane and as they disembarked, George seemed fascinated by the different aircraft on the tarmac.

The three-year-old also shared an amusing moment with the Canadian Prime Minister Mr Trudeau who bent down to high-five George. After the little Prince shook his head, Mr Trudeau tried a low-five and then a handshake, both of which George declined.

"Are you okay?" Kate asked, bending down to talk to her son, before affectionately stroking his hair and cheeks. The Duke and Duchess then left their children in the capable hands of their Spanish nanny Maria, before heading out for their engagements with the Trudeaus. Stay tuned to HELLO!
