Queen Letizia and King Felipe meet a robot in Japan: All the best photos from the royal visit

The mum-of-two looked regal wearing a tulle gown by Felipe Varela, which she topped off with the Mellerio Floral tiara for a state banquet hosted in honor of the royal tour. The dress, which is embroidered with leaf shaped crystals, was first worn by the Queen in July 2015.

Letizia and Felipe, looking dashing wearing a tailored coat, stood next to their hosts at the state banquet. During the evening, the King spoke noted that in 2018 they will be celebrating the "150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations."

He also said: "Nowadays, Spain and Japan are two nations with shared aspirations and points of view in the defense of international peace and order, in our commitment to progress, justice and human rights, and to sustainable development."

Letizia got friendly with Honda’s humanoid robot named Asimo during her trip to the Nation Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo. Always a good sport, the Queen smiled as the robot took a bow upon their introduction.

The King and the Queen took in the "Geo-cosmos" exhibition at the Nation Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo. The globe is suspended from the ceiling of the museum.

Letizia was greeted by Japan’s Empress Michiko during the welcoming ceremony held at the Imperial Palace.

Queen Letizia and King Felipe arrived in style to Tokyo's Haneda Airport on 4 April. The monarchs disembarked the aircraft arm-in-arm as they kicked off their four-day visit to Japan, which aims to strengthen friendly relations between Japan and Spain.
