Kate has recalled the struggles of raising a newborn baby in a touching new video released by Kensington Palace. The Duchess of Cambridge is seen speaking to her husband Prince William and her brother-in-law Prince Harry, as she reminisces on the "steep learning curve" she and William went through as new parents to baby Prince George.

"Having a child, particularly your first child, is such a life-changing moment," said Kate, 35. "Nothing can really prepare you for that. Remember the first few days with little George, you have no idea what really you are doing, no matter how many books you read, nothing can prepare you for it." The mum-of-two recalled how the family spent the first few weeks at Bucklebury with Kate's parents, learning the ropes from Carole and Michael Middleton, before they returned home to Anglesey, where William was based for work.

Kate admits she's shy and motherhood can be 'lonely'

"Do you remember up in Anglesey, so we've had our couple of weeks of family support and you were keen to get back to your work and I was like, 'Yeah I'll come with you', so we scooted off back to Anglesey with George," said Kate, laughing. "Those first few weeks were a steep learning curve massively."

"There's no rule book, there's no training that teaches you how to do it, you've just got to learn from previous generations and hope that translates into what you want to do," said William, 34. "When you have children, it really does put your own emotions and your own life into perspective and it has been very interesting why I get so upset about some things and why some things really affect me. I thought I was quite straight down the line, but I'm actually, I feel quite a lot more than I used to do."

The royal trio filmed the clip for their mental health campaign Heads Together. Kate, William and Harry are certainly practising what they preach, by speaking about their own mental health and having an honest conversation. The campaign encourages people to reach out and talk to others when they need help, particularly if their mental health is suffering.
