Prince Harry will host his first Buckingham Palace garden party in May, the annual Not Forgotten Association event for ex-servicemen and women. Harry will play host on Tuesday 30 May, inviting guests to enjoy a few hours at the palace sipping on tea and tucking into sandwiches and canapés. The Not Forgotten Association is a national tri-service charity which provides entertainment, leisure and recreation for the serving wounded, injured or sick and for ex-service men and women with disabilities.

The engagement will be of particular interest to Harry, who served in the armed forces for ten years, including two tours in Afghanistan. He qualified as an Apache Aircraft Commander and held the rank of captain. Since leaving, Harry has shown his support for servicemen and women. He launched the Paralympic-style Invictus Games for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel to compete in different sports. The Prince has taken his tournament from London to Orlando and this year, the games will be held in Toronto, the city where his girlfriend Meghan Markle is based.

While the upcoming garden party marks a big step for Harry, and his move towards taking on more royal duties for his grandmother the Queen, it's unlikely that his girlfriend Meghan will be there. Royal partners do not usually attend official engagements unless they are engaged or married. Meghan, 35, will likely be back in Toronto, where her TV drama Suits is filmed.

The actress and her Prince were reunited earlier this month when they made their first high-profile official outing together. Meghan, who looked incredibly stylish in a £3,000 plus monochrome outfit, cheered on Harry as he competed in the Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park. The couple were pictured sweetly kissing after the game. Harry and Meghan are also set to attend Pippa Middleton's wedding on Saturday 20 May. HELLO! previously revealed that the actress requested a week off work to travel to the UK for the high-society nuptials of the year.
