You voted and the results are in! We asked our readers to choose their favourite outfit worn by the ever-so-stylish Princess Diana, and we can now reveal that her LBD, designed by Christina Stambolian, has won with a majority – 35 per cent of votes. Diana wore the slinky black dress in 1994, when she attended the Serpentine's summer party. Her off-the-shoulder number is perhaps one of her most memorable outfits and was a clear departure from her more demure style.

The second favourite dress, winning 30 per cent of votes, was a dazzling white creation by Catherine Walker, dubbed the 'Elvis Dress' because of its collar. The world-famous creation, which Diana wore in Hong Kong in 1989, was studded with 20,000 pearls.

Ranking third with 10 per cent of votes was the ice-blue cocktail dress that Diana wore in 1997 to attend a performance of Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall. The daring number was created by Jacques Azagury, who recalls: "She was happier than I had ever seen her. There was something about the way she carried herself; a certain new-found confidence."
