Prince Harry has reportedly taken Meghan Markle to meet his former childhood nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke. According to The Sun, Harry, 33, "couldn't wait" to introduce his bride-to-be to the lady who helped care for him following the untimely death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997. "Harry couldn't wait to introduce Meghan to Tiggy," a source revealed. "Although the two women are very different, they got on famously." The insider added: "She's a very significant person in Harry’s life, almost like a mother-figure, as she looked after Harry when Princess Diana died."

Tiggy Legge-Bourke cared for Prince Harry after his mother's death

Tiggy, who now lives on Glanusk Estate in Wales, cared for Princes William and Harry in the nineties and retired from her royal role in 1999 when she married former British army officer Charles Pettifer. The 52-year-old joined Prince Charles' household while he and Princess Diana were separating so was a strong source of emotional support for the boys. But Tiggy was nearly fired after she allowed the Princes to abseil down a 50-metre dam without safety lines or helmets. They were unharmed and protested so strongly at the prospect of losing her as a nanny that she was allowed to stay.

The Prince has been taking the time to introduce the American actress to destinations around the UK, a place she will come to call home. The happy couple are due to marry on Saturday 19 May at St George's Chapel in Windsor. They announced their engagement in November 2017, after dating for a year and a half.
