Prince William and Kate have embarked on their official tour of Sweden and Norway, and began their visit in Stockholm, where they began to celebrate the country's culture and people in a great way – with a game of ice hockey! The Duke and Duchess first met a group of local hockey players at Vasaparken, where they were both successful in trying their hands at scoring a goal each!
Speaking about what to expect from the rest of the royal tour, the couple's communication secretary Jason Knauf said: "The Duke and Duchess have asked, as with previous overseas visits, that this tour allow them opportunities to meet as many Swedes and Norwegians as possible. Their royal highnesses will meet a wide variety of people, including children and young people, those working in the mental health sector, and leaders in business, academia and scientific research, government, civil society and the creative industries."
During their visit to the Swedish capital, the pair learned about an unusual form of hockey called bandy which consisters of 11 players a side. Kate is a known fan of sports, and watched a group of youngsters play before trying scoring a goal in a penalty shootout herself while being cheered on by onlookers.
Competitive Kate quickly got stuck into the fun by competing against her husband in the penalty shootout. Wearing a pair of thick white hockey gloves, Kate had three chances to score a goal in the penalty shootout. She scored one, while Prince William scored two out of three, making him the winner!
Kate was dressed for the cold weather in a warm black coat by Burberry, a jumper by Swedish designer Fjallraven, snow boots with matching grey gloves and a thick grey knitted bobble hat. The mum-of-two, who is currently expecting her third child, had a couple of attempts at scoring a goal, and the crowd of onlookers cheered when she succeeded on her second try.
Prince William was also wrapped up for the warm in a jacket and burgundy patterned bobble hat, and the pair were spotted laughing as they chatted to a young ice hockey player at Vasaparken before trying out the sport for themselves. Kate appeared to be taking off her gloves to have a go at scoring a goal.
The Duchess of Cambridge lost to Prince William as they took part in a fun penalty shootout on the ice. She lost 2-1 to her husband at the Bandy hockey game, which was their frist public outing during their two-day trip to the city. The pair will following their visit with two days in Norway.
Prince William and Kate snacked on a traditional toast with a hot drink carried in a flask in a briefcase known as a "Bandy Portfolio" and kept warm while watching the action. Kate held onto a hockey stick to prepare for taking part in a penalty shootout, and enjoyed a laugh with the locals, while William tucked into his treat.
Kate showed a hint of a baby bump in a green dress by Catherine Walker while meeting the King and Queen of Sweden for lunch at the beautiful Royal Palace of Stockholm. The Duke and Duchess posed in a photo with the royal couple, the Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

The group looked to be in deep discussion while wrapped up warm against the cold. The group met crowds of well-wishers, many of whom gave the pregnant Duchess bouquets of flowers.
Kate strolled with Prince Daniel as they made their way from the Royal Palace of Stockholm to the Nobel Museum. Kate looked chic in a dark green coat with black fur cuffs. She accessorised the look with a black fur hat and matching gloves, and completed the look with a black Mulberry bag.
The Duchess of Cambridge greeted the large crowds, all who were keen to get a close-up of her. Kate accepted several bouquets of flowers from the crowd, and chatted to several of the well-wishers. People also took pictures from out of the windows of a building as the group made their way to the Nobel Museum.
The group smiled for the crowd while on the steps of the Museum. Crown Princess Victoria looked stylish in a long grey coat with a spotted fur collar, while Kate wore a dark green coat with black fur and a matching hat. The pair both held bouquets of flowers as they posed with their partners.
