After arriving in Stockholm for the first day of their Nordic royal tour on Tuesday, Prince William and Kate have enjoyed an action-packed few days. On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess touched down in Oslo, Norway, to commence the second leg of their Scandinavian visit. The start of their trip didn’t go without a few mishaps. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were forced to change their schedule due to the weather conditions in Stockholm. As a result, their first engagement at Uppsala Airbase no longer went ahead.

Kensington Palace announced the news on their Twitter account, tweeting: "Unfortunately the snowy weather in Stockholm today has meant that TRH’s travel plans have had to be changed. This morning’s engagement at Uppsala Airbase will not go ahead."

The royal couple will begin their trip to Oslo with a visit to meet the Norwegian royal family, at a private lunch hosted by the King and Queen of Norway at the royal palace. The residence is currently closed to members of the public, but during the summer tourists are able to book tickets for a guided tour of the state rooms.

The Duke and Duchess stepped out in Oslo with the Norwegian royal family to do a walkabout on Thursday afternoon. Prince Willam, who was walking with Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 14, wished a woman in the crowd happy 50th birthday and says he’d already spoken to another woman who is also 50 today. He joked: "You’re 50 too? You should hold a joint party."

For the walkabout, the Duchess looked as glamarous as ever, wearing her brunette hair down in loose waves and styling it with an oversized faux fur hat to keep warm in the icy weather conditions. Vigdis Brandal, who had come from 60 miles away to catch a glimpse of the royal couple, said that he managed to shake Kate's hand. "She said she loved the snow," she said.

One woman in the crowd spoke to the Duke, and told him that she had seen Kate in Peter Jones, London, paying at the cash desk. She said: "William replied that he hoped it wasn't the expensive department."
