Meghan Markle looked delighted to be there during a walkabout on the esplanade at Edinburgh Castle during her first offical royal visit to Scotland. The future royal smiled and chatted to the crowds who gathered with flags bearing the Union Jack as well as an engagement photo with herself and Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle was given a warm welcome by the locals, one of whom showed the Suits actress a wedding token. The future royal was wrapped up from the cold in a Burberry tartan coat, most likely as a nod to Scotland during her first ever visit.

Prince Harry rubbed his hands to keep warm on the chilling day as he went to greet the crowds. The couple were met by Frank Ross, Edinburgh's Lord Lieutenant and Lord Provost, who represented the city. The pair began shaking hands and saying hello to the crowds outside of the castle.

Meghan admired tidbits from the crowds, and masters student from Mexico Sarah Coronado spoke about their visit, and how special it was. She said: "Seeing the couple is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We don't have these visits in Mexico or my hometown of Monterey. "They are also the hot couple of the moment because of their marriage coming up. "I also think Meghan is a role model, she's not just a pretty face. I think she's going to change the face of the monarchy."

Meghan Markle flashed her stunning engagement ring while tucking her hair behind her ear during the visit. Speaking about her ring in their first TV interview, she said: "I think everything about Harry's thoughtfulness is - and the inclusion of [his mother's jewellery] and obviously not being able to meet his mum it's so important to me to - to know that she's a part of this with us."

The couple put their arms around each other during the visit. Meghan braved the chilly day in a patriotic tartan coat by Burberry, black trousers by Veronica Beard and a green bag by Strathberry, while Prince Harry looked low key in a long grey jacket.

Prince Harry looked delighted to meet regimental mascot Cruachan IV during a walkabout on the esplanade at Edinburgh Castle, along with Pony Major Mark Wilkinson. Meghan laughed at Harry as he stroked the pony's head during the couple's visit to Scotland. Speaking about their trip, Kensington Palace tweeted: "Throughout the day Prince Harry and Ms Markle will have the opportunity to meet members of the public, learn more about organisations that work in the local community and nationwide, and celebrate youth in the Scottish Year of Young People 2018."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared a laugh together during their walkabout. Following greeting the crowds, the pair will move on to the New Town to visit Social Bite, a cafe which distributes 100,000 items of food and hot drinks to homeless people across Scotland each year, as well as employing staff who have experienced homelessness themselves.
