Princess Madeleine has taken to Instagram to confirm that her newborn baby daughter, Princess Adrienne, will be baptised on her and her husband Chris O'Neill's wedding anniversary. Sharing a photo of the service programme, she wrote: "Same same but different! Christening for Adrienne 8th of June 2018!" The date holds a special significance for the Swedish royals, as the couple's eldest daughter, Princess Leonore, was also christened on 8 June. According to the palace's website, the baptism will take place in the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace, with the Most Reverend Archbishop Antje Jackelén performing the ceremony while assisted by the Right Reverend Bishop and Chief Court Chaplain Johan Dalman, and the Reverend, Court Chaplain and Rector of the Royal Court Parish Michael Bjerkhagen.

The little princess will wear the traditional christening gown that was first worn by Prince Gustaf Adolf in 1906, and has been passed down through the generations since. Swedish royals including King Carl XVI Gustaf, Princess Madeleine and Prince Carl Philip have all worn the gown. Following the christening, Adrienne's initials will be embroidered onto the dress. Although the godparents have yet to be announced, it has been reported that the husband of Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, is a likely choice for godfather.

Madeleine and Chris welcomed baby Adrienne on 9 March 2018, and Chris said: "We are thrilled about the new addition to our family. Leonore and Nicolas are looking very much forward to finally meeting their new little sister." An official photo of the new Swedish princess was released that same day, showing the newborn fast asleep. Madeleine has since shared several photos of the baby girl on Instagram, including a sweet snap of her in her pram while her big brother, Prince Nicolas, took a horse riding lesson.
