Royal baby to celebrate birthday on same day as fellow royal cousin - find out who!

April 23 also happened to be William Shakespeare's birthday!

The third royal baby is on the way! Kensington Palace confirmed that the Duchess of Cambridge went into labour in the early hours of Monday April 23, which also happens to be the birthday of Lady Gabriella Windsor, the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. The royal, who is turning 37 and was also born in St. Mary's Hospital, and will be the new baby's third cousin. The day also marks St. George's Day, England's national day celebrates the patron saint, who is known by legend as being a Roman army soldier who slayed a dragon, on the anniversary of his death. St George was originally born in Cappadocia and protested against Rome's treatment of Christians. Saint George's flag, of a red cross on a white background, is the flag of England and incorporated into the Union Jack. Prince William and Kate's third child isn't the only notable person who will celebrate their birthday on the patriotic date, as Gigi Hadid and John Cena were all born on the same day.

Kate was admitted to hospital on Monday

William Shakespeare was also notably born on 23 April in 1564, and allegedly passed away on the same day in 1616. Other notable events that took place on the special date include Charles II of England's coronation in Westminster Abbey in 1661, and in another British tradition, also Matt Smith's first ever appearance as the eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who! Kensington Palace confirmed that Kate went into labour on Monday in a statement which read: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour. The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge."

Kate could welcome her baby on St. George's Day

The new baby has just missed arriving on the Queen's 92nd birthday, which the monarch celebrated on Saturday. William and Kate are also set to celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary on April 29. The royal baby's two older siblings also celebrate their birthdays just three months apart, with Princess Charlotte turning three on May 2 and Prince George turning five on 22 July.
