Find out why Prince Harry won't sing 'Football's Coming Home' ahead of World Cup semi-final

The Duke didn't want to risk saying whether 'It's coming home'

UPDATE: It looks like Prince Harry is feeling a little more optimistic this morning! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined President Michael D Higgins and wife Sabina to ring the Peace Bell at the presidential residence in Dublin on Wednesday, and when asked if football was coming home, Harry replied: "Most definitely."

ORIGINAL STORY: Prince Harry has weighed in on England's chances of success at World Cup, saying he doesn't want to "jinx" their chances of winning the tournament for the first time in over 50 years. Speaking to former Irish rugby ace Brian O'Driscoll at a garden reception in Dublin on Tuesday evening, the Duke of Sussex refused to be pushed on the squad's success.

"I asked him 'so is football coming home?' But he refused to say it," Brian said. "I think he just said he isn't as confident as everyone else about England winning tomorrow. He said he won't say it because he doesn't want to jinx it."

But while Harry is less confident about England's chances, his brother Prince William appears to be more optimistic. The Duke took to Twitter to express his excitement at England's victory against Sweden in the World Cup quarter finals, and like the rest of the country, there was one tune in particular that was going round in his head – David Baddiel and Frank Skinner's 1996 hit Three Lions (Football's Coming Home)!

"You wanted to make history @England and you are doing just that," wrote the proud Duke of Cambridge. "This has been an incredible #WorldCup run and we’ve enjoyed every minute. You deserve this moment – Football’s Coming Home! W."

It marked the second time that William's excitement has overflowed into a personal message to the England football team. After last week's nail-biting victory over Colombia, he also took to social media to express his delight. "I couldn't be prouder of @england - a victory in a penalty shootout!" the delighted royal wrote. “You have well and truly earned your place in the final eight of the #worldcup and you should know the whole country is right behind you for Saturday! Come on England! W."
