The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a packed day of engagements on the second day of their royal tour of Ireland. Prince William and Kate's first stop of the day was to Jigsaw in Temple Bar, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health in Ireland, where they met young people supported by the charity. The couple then travelled to Savannah House in County Kildare, a residential facility run by social justice charity Extern.

The Duke and Duchess also visited Research Farm in County Meath, to hear more about their work to promote sustainable farming across the country and Howth Cliff, to learn about the impact of climate change.

On Wednesday evening, William and Kate attended a reception in central Dublin, hosted by Tanaiste, Simon Coveney. Take a look at all of the best photos from day two of the royal tour of Ireland.

The Duke and Duchess sat down and met people supported by the charity Jigsaw in Temple Bar, to hear about their experiences. The organisation provides vital support to young people (aged 12 to 25) across a range of one-to-one, community, school and online services. They also joined a conversation with community campaigners, teachers, parents and coaches about the impact of Jigsaw's work within their respective communities.

William and Kate chatted to three service users who had been helped by the charity. Lauren Russell, 21, said: "I spoke to them about how I was able to build a tool box of how to deal with issues I was facing. They were very interested in that. It effectively gives you a way to manage life's stresses and be able to cope with your problems. I struggled with keeping a secret about my mental health problems and thinking people would treat me differently. Both of them stressed that breaking the stigma surrounding mental health was so so important."

Ella Barton, 19, said: "They were amazing. So down to earth and really connected with what we were saying and the issues young people face. What was amazing about the visit is that they were on the same page of many of the issues I have struggled with. I explained that the school system had failed me and they agreed that more needed to be done in schools to help young people before they reach the stage when they need to seek help, particularly bullying and other school stresses. They agreed that school principals need to step up and do more. And to have people with such power saying that I think will make such a difference."

Ricky Jinks, 24, said: "They were very interested in the time-line of mental health and if something could be done to prevent me having to seek help with Jigsaw."

After visiting Jigsaw, the Duke and Duchess took a walk down 'Love Lane' in Temple Bar. The lane, formerly known as Crampton Court, has been decorated with tiles bearing romantic quotes from films, literature and local sayings and is part of Dublin City Council's "Love the Lanes" scheme.

Local artists have transformed the alleyway, now called 'Love Lane' in Temple Bar. It has become a favourite attraction in the city.

The Duke and Duchess helped prepare the dish of the day at Savannah House in County Kildare - after popping to a shop to teach the children about budgeting. William and Kate joined 13-year-olds Simon and Molly to visit a village shop to buy ingredients for vegetable soup.

Their trip to the Londis store in Prosperous, County Kildare, was supposed to be a secret but by the time they got there around 200 villagers had gathered outside to see them. William stopped to take a selfie with Jennifer Malone, who gave him a bunch of daffodils for his wife.

Before they set off, the Cambridges inspected the fridge with the youngsters and checked the ingredients needed for the soup - all designed to teach the children life skills. William said: "There's only one leek. Do we have to stick to the menu?" He then told the others in the kitchen: "We're going to shop for you. We'll be back in a minute. We'll bring back all the wrong ingredients." The couple, who had 20 euro (GBP17) to spend, returned 15 minutes later with a bag of provisions including brown bread, butter and leeks. At the end of their afternoon, William and Kate visited Howth Cliff, a spectacular cliff walk north of Dublin, with views out over the Irish Sea. They met representatives from the Marine Institute, a state agency responsible for marine research, technology development and innovation in Ireland. The couple learned more about the impact of climate change and conservation efforts around the country's coastline.

Outfit change! The Duchess swapped her polka dot blouse and Reiss coat for a belted green wax jacket from Dubarry and a plaid Barbour blouse, with her trusty Penelope Chilvers boots.
