The royal family were reunited together at Windsor Castle on Tuesday as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge concluded their festive royal train tour.

The Queen, 94, was joined by the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Cambridges, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and the Princess Royal, as they thanked local volunteers and key workers in the quadrangle of Windsor Castle.

During the socially distanced engagement, the royals listened to a selection of Christmas carols performed by The Salvation Army Band.

The Queen looked festive in a 'Christmas red' hat and coat by her personal dresser Angela Kelly and she accessorised with a ruby and diamond spray brooch.

As the band played Christmas songs for the monarch and her family gathered around her, the head of state could be seen quietly singing along.

The Wessexes stood to one side of the steps with the Cambridges during the engagement at Windsor Castle.

Four small Christmas trees, two each side of the steps, were decorated with white lights.

Last week, the royal family shared photos of the Queen's spectacular decorations at Windsor Castle, including a 20-foot tree in St George's Hall.

Kate, who was previously dressed in a red Alexander McQueen coat and Emilia Wickstead tartan skirt, changed into a dark green Catherine Walker coat with a faux-fur collar.

The Duchess also sported the Queen's diamond pendant earrings, which she has borrowed on previous occasions.

She wore her brunette looks in a half-up, half-down hairstyle.

It marked the second occasion we've seen the royal family all together during the coronavirus pandemic. Her Majesty and her family paid their respects at last month's Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in Whitehall.

William and Kate have been on a UK-wide tour, travelling to cities and towns on the Queen's royal train to pay tribute to the work of individuals and organisations in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The royals will also celebrate the festive period separately this year amid the UK government's rules on Christmas bubbles.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will remain at Windsor Castle throughout, while the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will celebrate Christmas at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
