Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance for New Zealand and Australia, paying tribute to troops who lost their lives in the First World War.

Prince William looked sombre as he wore a navy coat and trousers, choosing to not wear military dress but opting to wear his military medals on his lapel.

Prince William laid a wreath as a mark of respect ahead of the service. This was laid on behalf of the Queen at the Cenotaph.

The occasion will also be marked with an Anzac Day Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.

In 2021, the ceremony was pared back due to the coronavirus pandemic but this year full proceedings were able to go ahead.

Earlier in the day, the Duke of Gloucester attended the Dawn Service at the New Zealand Memorial at London’s Hyde Park Corner.

The Royal Marines Band marched and played during the ceremony as the public looked on. They played three national anthems belonging to the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

The Duke was there as a representative for the Queen who has chosen not to attend many in-person engagements recently due to mobility issues.

The Duchess of Cambridge then joined her husband ahead of the service at Westminster Abbey. Kate was wearing a stunning cream coat dress with a matching headband. The royal paired her muted ensemble with black pointed courts and a black clutch.

The fitted coat dress featured a statement collar, boning details and she matched it beautifully with pearl earrings.

If the dress looks familiar, that's because Kate wore this to Princess Charlotte's christening in 2015, and a similar lemon version to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding!

Kate's boucle headband featured a sweet bow at the back, matching her black accessories.

The Duke and Duchess sat through the ceremony inside Westminster Abbey and Kate had the order of service open to follow along with proceedings.

The royal couple looked sombre as they marked the occasion.

The couple walked down the same aisle as they did when they got married in 2011.

Leaving the service, Kate was handed a bunch of beautiful yellow springtime flowers and she also clutched the order of service from the ceremony.
