All eyes were on the red carpet outside the Royal Festival Hall as the Prince and Princess of Wales arrived at the 2023 BAFTAs.

William and Kate made a very glamorous return to royal duties after spending the February half-term break with their children, when they reportedly took Prince George and Princess Charlotte on a low-key visit to the set of Amazon Prime series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The Prince has been President of BAFTA since 2010, and Kate first joined him at the star-studded bash in 2017.

The Prince and Princess of Wales made quite the entrance on the red carpet as they arrived at the BAFTAs. William was smart in a black velvet tuxedo from Tom Ford, while Kate looked stunning in a reworked Alexander McQueen one-shoulder gown and statement black opera gloves.

The Waleses were very animated as they walked down the red carpet, chatting and laughing with one another.

And the couple even shared a cheeky moment that was caught on camera!

Kate chose a pair of £17.99 floral and rhinestone detail earrings from high street favourite, Zara, and she opted for a shimmering smokey-eye makeup look. Sadly, the statement accessories have already sold out!

Sunday marked the first time William and Kate have attended the BAFTAs since 2020, with the Prince having to pull out of the bash last-minute in 2021 because of the passing of his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh. Last year, the couple could not attend in person due to "diary constraints" and only William appeared in a virtual address

The couple spoke to Anna Higgs, Chair of the Film Committe, BAFTA and Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA.

William and Kate were told how the late Queen Elizabeth II had been a "supporter" of the arts, and a feature praising the late monarch's patronage of the industry was shown to guests during the show.

The Prince told the leaders they were doing a "great job" and nodded as Ms Higgs spoke of how important it was to pursue "diversity" in the industry.

William blinked back tears as Dame Helen Mirren paid a special tribute to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

As a special video was played on screen, Dame Helen said: "Cinema at its best does what Her Majesty did effortlessly – bring us together and unite us through a story. Your Majesty, you were our nation's leading star."

The actress, 77, has portrayed the monarch on the silver screen and on the stage, winning an Oscar and Bafta for her depiction in 2006's biographical drama The Queen.

The Queen, who died at the age of 96 in September 2022, had a close association with the Academy which spanned 50 years and saw her donate and support initiatives, as well as attend many events over the years.

We'd love to know what Kate and BAFTA host Alison Hammond chatted about after the show.
