Charles Spencer took a trip down memory lane this weekend as he shared an incredible throwback photo with his fans.
Charles, 58, was in a reflective mood after coming across a snapshot from his childhood.
He chose to share the touching image with his followers on Instagram – and sparked quite a reaction in the process.
The photo shows Charles as a boy standing next to his best friend, with both adopting similar poses, and sporting similar looks, as they smile for the camera.
He wrote in the captain: "Happy 59th birthday to Giles - on the right - one of my closest friends since we met on our first day at school, in 1968, both aged four. My father took this shot on my eighth birthday - clearly doing up your top button was a thing in 1972…."

A second said: "Looks like you both want to laugh out loud!" and a third added: "Having lifelong friends is important. You're both adorable and look like you could get into some mischief. Very fashionable too!" A fourth told Charles: "You haven't changed a bit!!"

Charles was raised there alongside three older sisters, including the late Princess Diana.
Due to laws around how hereditary peerages are inherited, he became the 9th Earl Spencer following the death of his father and gained ownership of the property.

Father-of-seven Charles now resides at Althorp with his third wife, Karen, and their young daughter.

Charles went on to welcome two children with his second wife, Caroline Freud: The Hon. Edmund Spencer, 19, and Lady Lara Spencer, 17, while he and Karen – who were married on 18 June 2011 – share ten-year-old daughter Lady Charlotte Diana together.
