The Danish royal family were united on Sunday as they came together to celebrate Queen Margrethe's 83rd birthday.
The monarch was joined on the balcony of Christian IX's Palace in Amalienborg by her loved ones – including her eight grandchildren. Find out more about the European royals in our video below...
Margrethe, who was making her first public appearance since undergoing extensive back surgery, beamed as she waved to the cheering crowds.
She was joined by her eldest son, Crown Prince Frederik, his wife Crown Princess Mary, and their four children: Prince Christian, 17, Princess Isabella, 15, and 12-year-old twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent.
Gathered on her other side was her second son, Prince Joachim and his family.

Joachim made an appearance with his wife Princess Marie and his four children. The 53-year-old shares sons Count Nikolai, 23 and Count Felix, 20, with his first wife, Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg. He also has two children with Marie: Count Henrik, 13, and 11-year-old Countess Athena.
The united family appearance came as a welcome surprise to royal fans given the recent fall-out amongst the royals.

At the start of the year, at the behest of their grandmother Margrethe, Joachim's four children all lost their HRH titles.
At the time the decision was announced, Joachim and Marie, spoke of their upset – as did the Queen’s eldest grandchild Nikolai.
Margrethe later took the unprecedented step of apologising to her son and his children.
And just recently, she gave a deeper insight into her decision to slim down the monarchy in a candid recent interview with Danish broadsheet, Weekendavisen's editor-in-chief, Martin Krasnik, at Amalienborg.
"When I let go of the reins, he's there. I am a link in a very long chain that continues, and I believe that he will probably find that out," she said of her heir Frederik.
"For me, it has been important that it should not be Frederik's lot to make such a decision. It was better that it was me," she further confided.
