Charles Spencer likes to share vintage photographs of his family as well as keep followers up to date with Althorp House and the refurbishment jobs happening around the estate.
On Thursday, the 58-year-old delighted his fans once again as he shared a photo showing his father, John Spencer, as a teenager.
The black and white photo shows the youngster helping a fellow Eton student cut a small tree with a hand saw whilst other four friends look on.
Captioning the post, the father-of-seven wrote: “My father (kneeling - to the right - with saw in hand) and @eton.college school friends, helping the war effort in around 1940.”
The description on the photo, which is barely legible due to the photograph being over 80 years old, reveals that John was assisting in “forestry work” at Harlestone as part of their vacation.
“They are paid sixpence an hour. Working the saw are Viscount Althorp (right) and H. Bruce,” it adds.
Although the former Earl Spencer can only be seen side on, many fans were quick to notice how much Princess Diana’s brother resembles him, and some even noticed his likeness to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ eldest son Prince George.
“Even side on, you can see the strong Spencer family gene resemblance. Thank you for another great personal photo memory, I really enjoy your Insta page & the Spencer history over the centuries,” one wrote, whilst another agreed, adding: “Goodness I thought that was You!!”
“You are so like your dad,” said a third.
Of his resemblance to his great-nephew, one remarked: “I think Prince George looks like you and your father when he was young.”
It’s not the first time that Charles has been compared to the nine-year-old. Last year, during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, many couldn’t help but comment on it after George made a rare appearance at the Party at the Palace.
