King Charles was a crowd favourite on Wednesday when he danced through the streets of Nassau in the city's Junkanoo parade, amid his royal tour of the Caribbean.

The 77-year-old appeared to be enjoying himself as he shook a pair of maracas and danced in the parade, which was put on in his honour. Charles sported a light-coloured suit with a brown tie and brown shoes, and paired the look with black sunglasses as he was joined by the parade's dancers.

Royal watchers couldn't get enough of the king's moves, with one writing on social media: "Go on, Your Majesty!" while another added: "What a warm welcome!!!!" A third chimed in: "Your Majesty living his best life!!" while another said: "He's on it!"

The Junkanoo parade is typically held in the Bahamian capital on Boxing Day and New Year's Day, and features elaborate floats, colourful outfits and plenty of feathered headdresses.

The king arrived in the Bahamas on Tuesday, kickstarting the nine-day Caribbean tour that will also see him visit Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda. He will lead the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in the latter country between November 1 and 4, and Queen Camilla will join him.

All eyes have been on the monarch during his visit, with many wondering if he would address Britain's past in the region and their involvement in the transatlantic slave trade.

"The visit program will therefore not shy away from 'the darkest days of our past,' as His Majesty has described them," a palace spokesperson said ahead of the trip.

"But – in keeping with the wishes of our host nations – it will principally be oriented to the vibrant present and promising future of each country, with visit programs developed in close consultation with their governments to reflect their individual priorities."

Charles delved deeper into the discussion during a speech on Tuesday, where he noted that "some of what is best in Bahamian culture today, the most joyful, the most hopeful, the most bright, was born out of darkness".

"It is only right that we should acknowledge the great suffering and injustices of the past in these islands and beyond, even as we rejoice in the successes of the present and build new opportunities for the future," he said, before adding that "leaders of the governments of affected Commonwealth countries will be discussing these matters in Antigua and Barbuda next week."

King Charles met with Bahamian schoolchildren in Clifford Park ahead of the Junkanoo parade, and told them that he felt "enormous hope" after seeing how the people "carried the history, the legacy and the promise bequeathed by [their] ancestors".

"You have not only carried their legacy, you have nurtured it and enhanced it, creatively and courageously," he noted.
