We've whittled down 2017's brightest stars to 11 finalists, among them royalty. The Queen, the Duchess of Cambridge, the late Diana, Princess of Wales and Prince Harry's fiancée and future royal, Meghan, are all in the running, as are Kate's younger sister Pippa and actresses Emma Stone and Claire Foy. Human rights lawyer and new mother to twins, Amal Clooney, has also made the final 11, alongside pop sensation Ariana Grande, activist Rose McGowan and model Adwoa Aboah.

Meghan Markle
She's transformed from TV actress to star in her very own Christmas fairy tale and won the heart of the nation in the process with her engagement to Prince Harry.
The Queen
The 91-year-old monarch has this year celebrated her platinum wedding anniversary with the Duke of Edinburgh and stoically embraced her official engagements with the same sterling devotion to her subjects as the day she was crowned in 1953.

The diminutive singer with a big heart boosted the mood of a nation and won praise for her extraordinary empathy after she organised the One Love Manchester concert in honour of the victims of a suicide bomber who had struck at her show in the city just 13 days earlier.
Claire Foy
The 33-year-old actress is reigning supreme on the small screen again with her compelling, subtle and sympathetic portrayal of The Queen in the second series of the hit Netflix show of The Crown.
Amal Clooney
It's been a landmark year on both a personal and professional level for the human rights lawyer, who gave birth to twins, Ella and Alexander, in June. Four months later, the dynamic 39-year-old barrister, who is married to George Clooney, was back at work taking on ISIS at an historic United Nations Security Council meeting in New York.
Rose McGowan
Blazing a trail for victims of sexual harassment, the actress struck a blow against abusers when she blew the whistle on one of Hollywood's most influential movie moguls, Harvey Weinstein, paving the way for other victims to speak out against him.
Adwoa Aboah
One of the most prolific and in-demand international models currently working, she was named Model of the Year at the prestigious British Fashion Awards in December and graced the cover of British Vogue for editor-in-chief Edward Enninful's debut issue.
Diana, Princess of Wales
In the year that marks the 20th anniversary of her death, her sons Princes William and Harry paid tribute to the woman they described as "the best mum in the world" and whose lasting legacy was remembered with a poignant memorial space created in her honour – the White Garden at Kensington Palace.
